Behind the Scenes of The Stand Out Brand™ System: How We Build Brands That Grow With Your Business
If there's one thing I've learned after nearly a decade of building brands for online service providers and coaches, it's this:
The businesses that get the best branding results aren't always the ones with the biggest budgets, the fanciest websites, or the most elaborate visual identities.
They're the ones that know a successful brand isn't built in a single day, a single design project, or a single photoshoot. It's built one intentional decision at a time.
That's exactly why I don't believe branding should start with a logo, a website, or even a color palette.
Before any of those things happen, there needs to be a clear strategy guiding the decisions behind them. Otherwise, it's easy to invest time and money into a brand that looks great today but no longer fits where your business is headed tomorrow.
Over the years, that belief has evolved into what is now the Stand Out Brand™ System: the three-step process we use at Specht & Co. to help clients build brands that attract the right people, support long-term growth, and evolve alongside their businesses.
Today, I'm pulling back the curtain on exactly what that process looks like.
You'll get an inside look at each step of the Stand Out Brand™ System, why every phase matters, and how the pieces work together to create a brand that feels strategic, sustainable, and built to grow with you.
Let's dive in.
The Stand Out Brand™ System: The Process Behind a Brand That Actually Works
The Stand Out Brand™ System is the process we use at Specht & Co. to help online service providers and coaches build brands that attract the right clients, support long-term growth, and make marketing feel easier.
One of the biggest missteps I see with branding is that everyone wants to start with the visuals. Aka the “fun” part. But in reality, visuals are just one piece of the puzzle.
A truly effective brand starts with strategy, gets brought to life through thoughtful design, and is reinforced through ongoing support and implementation.
That's why the Stand Out Brand™ System is built around three distinct steps:
Stand Out Brand™ Strategy Session
Brand & Website Design
Ongoing Support
Each step builds upon the one before it, creating a brand that doesn't just look good… it actually works.
Step 1: Stand Out Brand™ Strategy Session
Everything starts here.
The Stand Out Brand™ Strategy Session is the first step to working together and serves as the foundation for everything that follows.
Before investing in design, a website, or a full rebrand, we need to understand where your brand currently stands, where you want your business to go, what's working, what's not, and what needs to change in order to get you there.
During this paid strategy session, we'll identify the gaps in your current brand and uncover exactly what needs to be done to close them.
Think of it as creating the blueprint before building the house.
Without a blueprint, you might end up with something that looks nice on the outside but doesn't actually support the life you want to live inside it.
The same is true for your brand. Without strategy, you risk investing in visuals that don't support your goals, don't resonate with the right audience, or become outdated the moment your business evolves.
The process begins before we ever get on a call together and unfolds in four simple phases:
Complete Your Brand Homework
You'll start by working through a series of brand exercises designed to help us uncover where your business is today, where you want it to go, and the opportunities that may be hiding in plain sight.Strategic Review & Preparation
Before our call, I'll carefully review your responses, organize everything into a working strategy document, and begin identifying patterns, strengths, gaps, and areas that deserve a closer look. This allows us to spend our time together having deeper conversations instead of starting from scratch.Your 90-Minute Strategy Session
During our call, we'll define the core pieces of your brand foundation, including:
- Your purpose, mission, vision, and values
- Your positioning and competitive advantage
- Your dream client profile
- Your brand voice and messaging direction
The client experience you're creating throughout your business
By the end of our session, you'll have clarity around what makes your brand different, who it's meant to attract, and how it needs to evolve to support your future goals.Your Custom Brand Strategy Roadmap
Within seven days, you'll receive a completed brand strategy guide, a personalized next-steps checklist, and a custom Loom video with my recommendations for moving forward. Whether you decide to implement the strategy yourself or continue into the design phase with our team, you'll know exactly what comes next.
*If you decide to work with Specht & Co. on Done-For-You design, we'll apply the full $997 investment toward your package.
This step is essential because it prevents us from guessing when we get to the design phase.
Instead of wondering what to fix, what to prioritize, or whether you're making the right decisions, you'll have a clear roadmap to tell you exactly where you're headed and why.
Step 2: Strategic Brand & Website Design
Now comes the part everyone gets excited about.
Once we've established the strategic foundation, it's time to bring your brand to life through beautiful, personalized, and most importantly strategic branding and website design.
During the Brand & Website Design phase, we create a custom visual identity and website based entirely on what we uncovered during your strategy session.
Rather than chasing trends or creating something that simply looks pretty, we are translating strategy into a visual experience that communicates the right message to the right people.
Every color, graphic, design choice, and page on your website serves a purpose. And because we've already done the strategic work, we're able to build extremely efficiently and intentionally.
Here's how that process typically works:
Moodboard Design
We start by defining the visual direction of your brand through a custom moodboard. This helps us make sure the overall look and feel of your brand is aligned before we move into the deeper design work.
Your moodboard is based heavily on the strategy we defined together, including your brand values, purpose, mission, vision, and dream client profile. In other words, we’re not just choosing visuals based on vibes. We’re making sure the creative direction reflects who you are, what you stand for, and who you want to attract.Logo Suite
From there, we move into designing your logo suite. A strong brand requires a collection of logo variations that can be used across different platforms, formats, and applications while maintaining a consistent brand experience.
At a minimum, your logo suite will include a primary logo, a secondary logo, and an icon or submark. Each serves a specific purpose and gives you the flexibility to use your brand confidently in any scenario. Whether you're updating your website, creating social media content, designing marketing materials, or investing in professional photography and signage you’ll have the exact logo variation and file type you need.
Our goal here is to create a cohesive logo system that ensures you have the right version available for virtually any scenario while preserving the integrity and consistency of your brand.Final Color Palette
Next, we finalize your color palette, which is my personal favorite part of the process.
Like everything else, your color palette will be based heavily on your brand values, purpose, mission, vision, and dream client profile. But we also think practically about how your colors will work across different platforms.
Your final color palette is intentionally curated with accessibility and legibility in mind so your brand looks beautiful AND is also easy to read, easy to use, and functional in real-life marketing situations.Marketing Collateral
Depending on your package, we’ll also create marketing collateral to help you show up consistently with your new brand.
This might include things like social media templates, lead magnet design, presentation slides, client-facing materials, podcast artwork, course or membership graphics, or other brand assets that support the way you market and deliver your work.
These pieces matter because they help your new brand move beyond your website and into the places your audience is actually interacting with you.
Thoughtfully designed marketing collateral is literally how your clients experience your brand, so doing this step with intention goes a long way toward ensuring that your business is perceived the way you want it to be.
This phase is often where clients start to see the “pieces falling into place” and finally feel like their business reflects the level they're operating at.
Instead of feeling like they're piecing things together as they go, they have a cohesive, polished brand presence that gives them confidence when showing up online.
Step 3: Education & Empowerment (AKA Ongoing Support)
This step is really the cherry on top in the Stand Out Brand™ Process, and the one that most other branding experiences are missing.
By this point, you've done the strategy work. You have a clear direction, a polished visual identity, and a website that truly reflects the level of business you've worked so hard to build.
But having a brand and knowing how to use it confidently are two very different things.
One of the most common things I hear from new clients is that a previous designer handed over their files, delivered a brand guide, and essentially said, "Good luck 👋"
Even though they loved their new brand, they never quite felt comfortable using it. They second-guessed design decisions, hesitated to create content, and often found themselves relying on their designer for even the smallest updates.
So even after spending thousands of dollars to build a brand they were happy with, they still felt held back by their brand.
At Specht & Co., we believe a successful branding project doesn't end at launch day.
Education and empowerment are core values of our company, which is why every brand and website project includes 1–3 months inside The Six Figure Brand® Society.
Think of it as a bridge between receiving your new brand and fully stepping into it.
Inside, you'll receive:
Bi-weekly office hours to
Slack support for questions and feedback
Unlimited design reviews
2hrs per month of Done-For-You design support
This gives you the opportunity to learn how your brand works in real life, ask questions as they come up, receive feedback on marketing materials, and build confidence using your new visual identity across your business.
One client, Eryn Morgan, described the experience this way:
"Being inside of SFBS has been an absolute game changer for my business. Because I'm an active member of the community, I've been able to actually utilize my new branding that Specht & Co. created to uplevel my marketing online. I can try 'designy' things on my own, and then come to office hours or submit for feedback in order to get them completed beautifully and in alignment with my brand guidelines. This has always been such a weak spot for me in business, and now I'm able to confidently take action while feeling totally supported as I get visible online."
That's exactly why this step exists.
The goal is to give you a beautiful brand that you love, but more importantly the goal is to help you confidently use it.
When clients complete all three steps of the Stand Out Brand™ System, they are equipped with the knowledge, support, and confidence to continue growing their business long after the initial project is complete.
What Happens When You Follow the Entire Process?
One of the reasons the Stand Out Brand™ System works so well is that each step builds upon the one before it.
The strategy phase creates clarity and direction. The design phase brings that strategy to life. And the ongoing support phase helps you confidently implement and grow into your new brand.
When clients complete all three steps of the Stand Out Brand™ System, they are equipped with the knowledge, support, and confidence to continue growing their business long after the initial project is complete.
Branding becomes less of a guessing game and more of a series of intentional decisions that move your business forward.
That's when we start seeing results like:
Raising your rates by 30%
Tripling your audience size
Getting booked out with ideal clients after pivoting niches
Receiving more inquiries in the six months after launching your new brand and website than they received in the six months before
*Yes, those are all real client results!
Of course, the numbers are only part of the story.
The bigger transformation is often how clients feel once everything is aligned.
They stop wondering whether their brand is helping or hurting their business. They stop second-guessing every decision or feeling like they need to start over every few years.
Instead, they have a clear framework for making decisions, evaluating opportunities, and showing up consistently in their marketing. They understand what their brand stands for, who it's meant to attract, and how it supports their larger business goals.
And as a result, everything feels easier, more intentional, and more effective because every piece of the business is finally working together.
What Happens When You Skip Steps?
Skipping steps during the process is what keeps many business owners stuck… and here’s why:
If you skip Step 1, you might end up with a beautiful brand and website, but you'll likely outgrow them quickly because they weren't built on a strategic foundation.
If you skip Step 2, all the valuable insights from your strategy work stay trapped in a document instead of being brought to life in a way your audience can actually experience.
If you skip Step 3, you'll have the strategy and visuals, but you may never feel fully confident using them, so you’ll continue to play small when it comes to promoting your business.
The reality is that no single step is responsible for the transformation on its own. It's the combination of strategy, implementation, and support that creates lasting results.
When all three pieces work together, you end up with a brand that can continue growing alongside your business.
"But I'm in a Hurry to Launch..."
As an online business owner, it can feel like you’re always pressed for time and in a hurry. So you might be wondering:
"Do I really need to spend time on strategy first? Can't I just move straight to the branding and website?"
And I completely understand the temptation. When you're excited about a new direction for your business, it's natural to want everything done yesterday.
But this is one of those situations where slowing down actually helps you move faster in the long run.
This is very much a "measure twice, cut once" scenario, or as the Navy SEALs say, “slow is smooth, and smooth is fast” meaning that slowing down and doing this correctly now will actually get you the results you’re looking for faster in the long run.
It's far less expensive (and less time consuming) to methodically create a brand that can grow with your business than to rush through the process and find yourself rebranding again a year from now.
