Think You “Don’t Have Time to Rebrand?” Here’s The Truth About How Much Time A Rebrand Actually Takes

If you’re thinking about rebranding your business, there’s a good chance one question that keeps holding you back…

How long is this actually going to take?

And underneath that question, there’s usually another one…

How much of my time is this going to take?

I get these questions all the time from online service providers and coaches who are interested in working with Specht & Co., and I completely understand why.

You’re busy running a freaking business! You have clients to serve, content to create, offers to sell, emails to answer, launches to plan, and approximately 47,000 other things competing for your attention on any given day.

So even if you know your current brand isn’t doing your business justice, it’s really easy to tell yourself that you “just don’t have time to rebrand right now.”

Sometimes, that’s a legitimate concern. Other times (if we’re being fair) it’s a very convenient reason to keep kicking the can down the road.

And I think a big part of the hesitation comes from simply not fully understanding what a rebrand actually requires from you.

Are you going to spend hours every week picking fonts? Reviewing colors? Writing website copy? Going back and forth over tiny design decisions? Is this going to become another part-time job on top of the business you already have?

If you’re working with the right branding team, it absolutely shouldn’t.

One of our biggest priorities at Specht & Co. is making the branding process as easy as possible for you. After all, you’re hiring us because you don’t want to figure all of this out yourself.

So, how long does branding really take? And how much time should you expect to spend on it?

The slightly annoying but most honest answer I can give you is… it depends.

But we do have some pretty clear timelines we can use as a guide. So let’s break down how long each part of the process typically takes and how much of your time will be required along the way.

We’ll Work at a Pace That Makes Sense for You

At Specht & Co., we’re here to support you through this process. That means we’re not interested in forcing every client through the exact same rigid timeline regardless of what’s happening in their business.

We’ll work with you to find a cadence, pace, and schedule that makes sense for you, your business, and your project.

That said, we do have typical timelines for our different services, and the amount of time we need from you is probably less than you think.

Let’s break it down.

Stand Out Brand® Strategy Session: About 3 to 4 Hours of Your Time

Before we start designing anything, we need to know what your brand actually needs to communicate.

That’s where the Stand Out Brand® Strategy Session comes in.

This is the part of the process where we ask for the biggest investment of your time upfront, but there’s a very good reason for that.

You can expect:

  • About 2 hours of client homework

  • A 90-minute 1:1 strategy session

  • Your final strategy deliverables one week after our session

So yes, we’re asking you to carve out a few hours to really think about your business. But those hours aren’t spent picking colors, scrolling Pinterest, or trying to figure out what you want your logo to look like.

We’re using that time to get clear on the things that will actually shape your brand.

→ Who you want to be known for helping→ What makes your business different→ How you need to be positioned→ What you want people to understand about your work→ Where you want your business to go next.

And you’re not left to figure all of that out on your own.

Your homework gives me the context I need to understand your business, and then we use our 90 minutes together to dig deeper, talk through what’s working (and what isn’t), and pull the pieces together into a clear strategic direction.

By the end, we have a rock solid plan for your brand.

And that plan makes just about every decision that comes next easier.

Instead of guessing about who you’re trying to reach, we know.

Instead of choosing a visual direction because it looks nice, we can choose one because it communicates something intentional about your business.

Instead of going back and forth on design decisions without knowing why something feels “off,” we have a strategy we can come back to and ask: Does this actually support the brand we said we’re building?

That’s why those few hours upfront are such a worthwhile use of your time.

They give us a clear, strategic foundation that guides every decision we make from there from the overall creative direction of your brand to the details of your website and how your business shows up across every touchpoint.

And if we move into done-for-you branding or website design together, I take that strategy and run with it. Because we’ve already gotten clear on where we’re going and why, I can move confidently into the creative work and bring that strategy to life for you.

You don’t have to keep re-explaining your business, come up with the creative direction yourself, or sit beside me while I design. We’ve already done the important thinking together, which means I can handle the execution while you get back to running your business.

So those 3 to 4 hours aren’t busywork we need you to get through before the “real” work begins.

They are some of the most important work we’ll do, because they give us the clarity we need to make everything that follows easier, faster, and much more intentional.

Done-for-You Branding: 30 to 60 Minutes of Your Time Per Week

Once we move into the actual branding process, your workload gets much lighter.

We’ll start with a 30-minute kickoff call.

During that call, we’ll review your strategy, look at the Pinterest board I’ve created for your brand, and make sure we’re fully aligned on the creative direction before I start designing.

After that, your main responsibility is to review design drafts and provide feedback.

That’s it.

A good estimate is that you’ll spend somewhere around 30 minutes to one hour per week on the project.

The full project timeline depends on the branding package you choose.

Our Branding Basics projects generally take around four weeks, while Branding Pro projects generally take around eight weeks.

Those timelines give us plenty of room to move through the design and feedback process together, but every brand develops a little differently. Some come together quickly while others benefit from a little more refining along the way.

That’s why we include unlimited rounds of revisions in our branding projects. We want you to have the space to give thoughtful feedback and work through the details with us until everything feels right.

After all, this is the brand that’s going to represent your business moving forward. We want you to walk away with something that feels distinctly you, reflects the level of your work, and supports where your business is headed next.

So while four to eight weeks is a helpful planning range, the real goal is to give you a thoughtful process with enough flexibility to get to the right final result.

Done-for-You Website Design: Still Just 30–60 Minutes a Week

Website projects work very similarly.

At the beginning, you’ll complete a questionnaire that should take less than an hour.

From there, I’ll create the wireframes for your website. Then we’ll meet for about 30 minutes to review those wireframes, talk through everything, and make sure we’re on the same page before my team moves into the building phase.

Once the build starts, your main responsibility is (again) to review the work and provide feedback.

You can plan for approximately 30 minutes to one hour per week.

As far as overall project timelines, our Squarespace Mini Site projects generally take around two to four weeks, while a Full Custom Site generally takes around six to eight weeks.

The same philosophy applies here. Our job is to do the heavy lifting and your job is to bring your expertise, your knowledge of your business, and your feedback.

You don’t have to put your business on hold because your new website is being built.

What If I’m Adding Other Services to My Project?

Of course, there are some projects that are bigger than a brand and website alone.

Maybe we’re also working on SEO, social media content, a course build, or other pieces that help bring your new brand to life across your business.

For clients who want the “whole shebang”, there’s our Ultimate Brand Experience, which brings multiple pieces together into one fully comprehensive brand transformation.

Naturally, the more we’re creating together, the longer the overall project timeline will be. But that doesn’t necessarily mean your weekly time commitment grows right along with it.

At Specht & Co., we structure our projects so you can stay involved where your input matters most while we keep everything moving behind the scenes.

You’ll share your expertise, make key decisions, and give us feedback along the way. We’ll manage the moving pieces, do the creative work, and bring it all together.

So whether we’re building your brand, your website, or a much bigger brand ecosystem, the goal is the same: to give you the expert support to make it happen while you keep doing what you do best… running your business!

So… Do You Actually “Not Have Time” to Rebrand?

This is the question I’d encourage you to think about if you’ve been putting off your rebrand because your business feels too busy.

Because “I don’t have time to rebrand” can actually mean a few different things.

Maybe you assumed rebranding would require way more of your time than it actually does. If you’ve been picturing hours of meetings and another big project for you to manage, hopefully by now you’re realizing that working with us looks a whole lot different.

After the initial strategy work and kickoff, we’re often asking for just 30–60 minutes of your time per week while we keep things moving behind the scenes.

But maybe time isn’t really the issue at all.

Maybe a rebrand simply isn’t a priority for your business right now.

And that’s totally okay.

There are seasons when launching a new offer, serving your current clients, growing your team, or focusing on another part of the business deserves your attention first. A rebrand can wait until you’re ready to give it the space (and the investment) it deserves.

That doesn’t mean you have to put all of the thinking on hold, though.

If you know a rebrand is somewhere on the horizon, a Stand Out Brand® Strategy Session can be a really helpful place to start. It gives you a chance to step back, get clear on where your brand is headed, and see what a future rebrand could look like before you’re ready to dive into the full design process.

Then, when the timing does feel right, you’re starting with a clear strategy already in place and a much better idea of what comes next.

So if you keep catching yourself saying, “I don’t have time to rebrand,” it might be worth asking yourself what you really mean:

Is time actually the issue? Or is a rebrand simply not the priority yet?

Either answer is completely valid. And if it is a priority, you may be pleasantly surprised by how little of your calendar we actually need to make it happen.

“But I Have a Launch Coming Up. Can We Get It Done in Time?”

This is another question I hear all the time.

Maybe you have a new offer launching, a specific event or deadline coming up, or you’ve suddenly realized that you really don’t want to send a bunch of new people to your current website.

So, can we get everything done in time?

The answer is probably.

But this is always a case-by-case conversation.

There are too many variables for me to promise that every possible project can be completed by every possible deadline.

What I can tell you is that when this situation has come up in the past, we have always been able to find a solution that works for everyone.

That does not mean we rush through your project.

I’m not going to cut corners on your strategy or slap together a website just so we can hit an arbitrary date.

Instead, we look at what you actually need for that deadline.

For example, maybe your entire new website doesn’t need to be live before your launch.

Maybe the priority is getting the sales page for your new offer designed and live first, then we can continue working on the rest of the site after the launch.

There are almost always creative ways we can structure your project so you have what you need when you need it without sacrificing the quality of the finished brand.

If you have a deadline in mind, let’s chat about it!

My Instagram DMs are always open for questions like this, and these are also exactly the kinds of things we can talk through on a Brand Chat.

You Don’t Need “More Time” to Rebrand. You Need the Right Support.

If the biggest thing holding you back from rebranding has been the thought, “I just don’t have time for this right now,” I hope this gave you a different picture of what the process can actually look like.

Because when you work with Specht & Co., you’re not signing yourself up for another giant project to manage.

You bring your expertise, your vision for your business, and your feedback. I bring the strategy, creative direction, and design, and handle the heavy lifting that turns all of that into a brand that accurately reflects the business you’ve built.

That means you can…

  • Spend less time trying to figure out your brand on your own

  • Make decisions from a clear strategy instead of second-guessing every detail

  • Get a brand that feels like you and supports where your business is headed

  • Keep serving your clients and running your business while I move your brand forward behind the scenes

…while I move your brand forward behind the scenes.

And it all starts with the Stand Out Brand® Strategy Session.

We’ll spend 90 minutes together getting clear on what makes your business different, who your brand needs to connect with, and how you want to be positioned so that you have a strategic foundation for everything that comes next.

If we continue into done-for-you branding or website design, I can take that strategy and bring it to life for you. Because we’ve already done the thinking upfront, the rest of the process becomes a whole lot easier.

Your business probably isn’t going to magically get less busy, and you don’t need it to. With the right support, you can finally get the brand you’ve been dreaming of without putting the rest of your business on hold to make it happen.
