Ep. 50 5 Ways to Celebrate Your Rebrand and Build Momentum

In the online business world, we have this culture of constantly looking toward what's next instead of stopping to enjoy where we're at or celebrate what we've already accomplished. And I think that's a big mistake.

A rebrand is mentally, emotionally, and financially a really big deal in your business. A lot of you have a rebrand on your bucket list or your vision board. You use it as a reward for yourself. You plan to rebrand once you hit a certain milestone, get booked out, or reach 10K months.

We build them up so big in our heads. And then once it finally happens? Crickets.

Making a point to celebrate your rebrand and the launch of this next version of your business is crucial for several reasons:

First, it helps you plant your flag and anchor into that new version of your brand. Second, it allows you to show up more confidently because you're giving people the opportunity to get excited about your brand, which tells you subconsciously that this is something people care about and you need to share it with them more.

Third, it helps you build momentum on the back of your rebrand rather than experiencing what I see sometimes: people put so much effort and energy into their rebrand that by the end of it, they're burnt out.

Reframing the Rebrand Celebration

I want to reframe this for you: celebrating your rebrand is not self-serving. It's not attention-seeking. It's really one of the most important parts of the rebrand process.

You have put so much into this. You deserve to celebrate it. And your clients want to see you showcase and celebrate your rebrand.

This gets especially tricky for online business owners because we don't have a brick-and-mortar business where we would do a grand opening, have a ribbon cutting, and throw a little cocktail party to celebrate our new brand or the opening of our business. Everything in online business happens quietly, behind the scenes, on the internet where we don't have in-real-life relationships in the same way.

Why Online Businesses Need Celebration Even More

I was talking to a friend recently about why online businesses seem to have no problem investing in things like copywriting, brand strategy, and website design, but brick-and-mortar businesses are much more reserved with those dollars.

What I landed on is this: for an online business owner, those things are all that we have to represent ourselves. A brick-and-mortar business has their physical building, the ads they put in the newspaper, the billboard on the side of the freeway. They have many more opportunities to create an experience and make themselves known than the online business owner does.

That doesn't mean a digital home or an online business is less meaningful. It just means you have to be much more intentional about creating that moment of celebration for yourself.

5 Ways to Celebrate Your Brand Launch

Here are five ideas for celebrating your rebrand that will help you build momentum, connect with your community, and step fully into this new version of your business.

1. Host a Virtual Brand Launch Party

I'm taking a page out of the brick-and-mortar business book and suggesting you host a virtual brand launch party.

I know what you're thinking: people already have so many calls on their calendar, they don't want to come, or you feel like you're being selfish asking people to take time out of their day to celebrate your brand launch with you.

I would push back on that.

A rebrand is something that people are always excited to see the behind-the-scenes of. I recently had a close business friend who just rebranded, and I was on pins and needles waiting to see how things looked, what her new business was, and to hear the behind-the-scenes of working with her designer.

People want to consume that content through social media, blog posts, or YouTube videos. But they would also love an opportunity to sit on Zoom with you, hear you talk about it, celebrate you, network a little bit, and just have a genuine virtual brand launch party.

How to Structure Your Virtual Launch Party

Keep it fairly small and very intentional. Invite your online business friends (not just people you know, but people you have actual relationships with who will be invested in this rebrand with you) and your clients.

Clients really love feeling included in the behind-the-scenes of your business growth. Getting to say, "Hey, I've made some really exciting changes in my business. We're rebranding. I would love for you to come to this meetup and hear about them, meet some of my other clients and business owners I love" is incredibly meaningful.

Go the extra mile if you want. You can make it themed or mail out little party favors or gifts ahead of time to anyone attending. A Six Figure Brand Society member recently had a "coming back to business" party after taking some time off, and she sent every single person attending an at-home fondue kit. Then she hosted a little fondue party to celebrate, tell people what was coming up for her, and network. People loved it. I heard about that call on LinkedIn and Instagram for weeks afterward.

During the call: Do a little welcome, thank people for being there, tell them the story of your rebrand. You could even create a little presentation or behind-the-scenes walkthrough of what happened. People love to hear that stuff. Then open the floor for networking or play a party game.

We as online business owners really miss out on being in community with each other in containers that don't technically serve a purpose. Containers that are not for networking or finding clients, but really just meant for being with each other and celebrating each other. Having your virtual brand launch party is a wonderful way to do that.

2. Create a Website Scavenger Hunt

My next suggestion is a little more website-centric, but since a new website generally comes as part of your rebrand, this makes sense.

I've seen this done by a few friends who have rebranded recently, and I love it. The people doing it love it too.

A website scavenger hunt is brilliant for a few reasons:

  • It makes your launch interactive so people feel invested and involved, which is great for community building

  • It gets people actively engaging with your new site, which Google loves

  • You learn how people actually navigate your website and how your brand resonates with them

How to Run a Website Scavenger Hunt

Typically, I've seen people run this mostly through their email list, so it's an insiders-only event.

Have a handful of prompts (five to maybe ten) that guide people through all the pages on your website. These can be as simple as "find this hidden phrase" or "tell me what your favorite case study on my website is."

You can also ask questions that are answered in the website copy on your site. For example, "What's the investment for [insert package here]?" These types of prompts require people to really dig through your site, which encourages them to thoroughly explore it.

Incentivize participation with a small prize. They could be entered to win a free service with you, receive a DoorDash gift card, get access to a free resource you've created, or earn a discount or bonus. Give them a reason to engage.

Say something like: "If you check all the boxes or find all the items on the website scavenger hunt, you get [blank]."

3. Tie Your Rebrand to a Service Promotion

This approach is a little more sales-based, but when done right, it's about showcasing alignment rather than pushing sales.

This is not about forcing sales or being disingenuous. It's about showcasing how your new brand is aligned with what's next for your business, what you're offering, and how you're going to support your clients.

Service Promotion Ideas

Limited-time bonus: "I just launched my rebrand, and for the next 30 days, anyone who books [blank package] also gets [extra thing]."

Strategic discount: I'm very careful about discounting services, but if there's a way to tie it into your celebration or new brand messaging, it can make sense.

The key is that you're inviting people into this next chapter of your business, not just randomly asking them to buy something. You're saying, "Hey, I've put a lot of thought, energy, effort, and intention behind this new brand, this new version of my business."

Often a rebrand comes with new or refined offers. Really showcase that to your audience and give them a reason to get interested and invest in your services.

4. Share the Story Behind Your Rebrand

This sounds simple, but I don't see it done nearly enough.

You can do this in whatever format feels authentic to you and your brand: a YouTube video, a podcast episode, a blog post, or a series on social media.

A lot of people will just post one announcement or do a before-and-after graphic, and that's the end of it. People do like to see that, but there's so much opportunity to take it a step further and really build connection by going deep.

What to Share

  • Why you rebranded

  • What wasn't working before

  • What feels different now

  • How you found your designer and what it was like working with them

  • What you're excited about going forward

For one, this is a gold mine for content if you struggle with the "I don't know what to post" syndrome. This could be a series of many posts.

For two, it lets people feel like they're building a relationship with you. They get a special behind-the-scenes look at this huge thing you just did in your business. That helps them be able to trust you, which as we know, they need to know, like, and trust you before they'll hire you.

It's also a good opportunity to make the point to your audience: "Hey, just like I ask you to invest in your business by hiring me, I am also investing in my business in that same way. I am constantly growing and I want to help you be constantly growing too."

This positions you not necessarily as the authority, but as someone who is walking the walk instead of just talking the talk.

5. Order Branded Swag (That People Actually Want)

This might feel like low-hanging fruit, but I promise it's not because I have some thoughts on it.

The key here is branded swag that people actually want. I can't tell you how many pens and little trinkets are in my kitchen junk drawer from businesses that handed them out at events.

That's not what I'm suggesting.

I want to reframe the way you think about branded swag: from cheap promo junk to physical, tangible ways to create excitement and pride in your brand.

There are two categories here: branded swag ideas for you and branded swag ideas for your clients.

Branded Swag Ideas for You

A sign with your logo for the background of your Zoom calls. If you've recently rebranded, this is a fantastic way to visually reinforce your new brand with anyone who gets on a call with you, anytime you record social media content, or whenever you're on video. You can order custom signs on Etsy from thousands of sellers who can match your style, visuals, and aesthetic.

A really high-quality notebook. Not a cheap 10-cent notebook, but a really nice one you'll be proud and excited to use. This also makes a great prop for a brand photo shoot or for recording social media content.

A coffee mug or water bottle. Again, the key is quality. Don't get a cheap $5 water bottle. Get yourself a Stanley mug and have it engraved so it's really nice and something you'll use and be proud to use.

Laptop sleeve or stickers. Desk accessories you use frequently. Even something as simple as a pencil cup can be meaningful. I've had the same pencil jar on my desk for eight years. It's a fixture in my office now, and it might be cool to have one with the Specht & Co. logo on it.

Think about things you use every day in relation to your business that you could brand that would make you feel excited, proud to show off, and elevated.

This helps you emotionally step into your new brand. It also reinforces that identity shift. Having those little bits and pieces of your brand in the background (for a brand photo shoot, for any content you're recording) reinforces it not only for you but also for your audience.

Branded Swag Ideas for Your Clients

Some of the things I just mentioned can be great ideas for client gifts: notebooks, a mug, stickers. But the key is thinking about what people are actually going to use.

I don't really want to wear a t-shirt with my copywriter's logo on it. Sam, I love you, but a Nomad Copy shirt is not my style. But a sticker? I will put that everywhere. I've got one on my iPad cover. I would put one on a water bottle. There are so many places I would put a sticker as a fun little reminder: "Hey, I have a copywriter, and that's a cool accomplishment for me."

It's a little badge of honor of "Hey, I have reached the level where I have an SEO person, a copywriter, a designer, whatever."

Create custom welcome or celebration gifts for your clients. This can be really simple, like a handwritten note on custom stationery with a mini bottle of champagne or some candy.

Make It Meaningful and Useful

Nobody wants a pen with your logo on it. People probably don't want a t-shirt with your logo on it either.

You also have an opportunity to get really specific to your business. One of my favorite client gift/swag ideas I've ever designed for a client is luggage tags.

This client plans luxury trips for women over 50 all over the world. We created really high-quality luggage tags with her logo. Her clients have gone crazy for them because it's such a unique and very niche-specific item. They're excited to get them. It also makes it easy when these women get to the airport with all their luggage to identify who's with their group and to grab luggage off the carousel.

So it's actually useful, but it's also really meaningful because they continue using it after their trip is over with any other travel they do, and they remember this really cool experience they had.

The key with swag for clients: it needs to be useful and meaningful. If it's not, frankly, don't waste your money.

It can also be simple. Literally mailing a card with your logo on it and a handwritten note will go so far with your clients. You don't need to spend tons of money on super fancy branded client gifts. If you want to, cool, but it's not necessary.

Recap: Five Ways to Celebrate Your Brand Launch

  1. Host a virtual brand launch party to bring your community together

  2. Create a website scavenger hunt to drive engagement and learn how people navigate your site

  3. Tie your rebrand to a service promotion to showcase your new offers

  4. Share the story behind your rebrand to build connection and trust

  5. Order branded swag (that people actually want) for yourself and your clients

Why Celebrating Your Rebrand Matters

Celebrating your rebrand is so important because while it might feel vain, performative, or like you're showing off, it's actually about acknowledging all the effort you put in, the growth you've made, and really capitalizing on that energy and momentum.

I have other episodes where I talk about celebrating your wins in business. Rebranding is a huge win. As online business owners, we need to get more comfortable taking time to celebrate ourselves and allowing other people to celebrate with us.

I talked about my friend Amy earlier, who just launched her rebrand. The internet is so pumped for her. I've seen so many posts from people saying "Oh my gosh, it looks so great, go check this out" and really hyping her up. That's great for her reach online, but it's also great for her confidence. We all need a little ego boost now and again.

Here's your encouragement: you are allowed to take a pause, pat yourself on the back, and shout from the rooftops how excited you are about your rebrand. You do not need to rush past it to whatever that next thing in your business is.

A rebrand is not just a refresh. It's a huge milestone in your business, and you deserve to treat it like one.

How Are You Celebrating Your Rebrand?

If you've recently finished your rebrand or you're in the middle of rebranding, I want to hear from you. Shoot me a message on Instagram and tell me: how are you going to celebrate?
